Welcome!

                      Good morning to everyone!   I am sitting on our back deck today writing this action void blog post.  It is still not to warm --but it is July and that will change.  By afternoon even if you take a shower--you get out of the shower and are instantly covered in water again.  The shower water being replaced by sweat.  Luckily the intense heat only lasts about two months out of the year.   And much of July we rejoice with the monsoons!   A magical time of the year, when even God decides it is to hot here--and the heavens open up -giving us a huge down pour of cooling rain.  Often much more rain than the dry desert can deal with.  Causing even more problems.  But at least everyone is much cooler and a little happier.  Even if there car is now surrounded by water and could be considered an island.  At least now it can be considered a dry but moist heat.  All of the old timers in this state like to explain why residents do not spontaneously conbust from the sure heat---most of the time--because it is a dry heat here.  If that was not true---watch out mister!  Because than, boy, it would be hot!   I have many times before mentioned how mind numbling stupid this is--- once it's over 100 outside and in many cases inside--it is just Flippin' hot- no matter what kind of heat you are dealing with.   So I will not go into this thought line any deeper now.  I may very well continue to make fun of the concept though.

So many trails   So little time!!

 

 

                    We have now lived in the Benson, Arizona area for just over a year.  I have a whole blog post coming filled with pictures and thoughts on the great little town.  It is still hard to believe we have been here a year now.   Time flies even when you are not having fun! 

     **"News flash to all the people that have been calling and texting my wife so early in the morning---mostly with wrong numbers and such---- I work grave yards and have no issues calling you back even earlier in the AM. ----Just sayin'"**

     The other night at work ---I work in a restaurant in a casino---we got extra busy at 3 AM after a concert had let out -the bars were all closed--and everyone suddenly realized they were very hungry.  And needed to attempt to sober up before gambling more or attempting to drive home.   At any rate the grave yard shift is full of interesting people.  And that is just the workers.  Two nights back because of the rush--we had tickets all the way across the cook line of food waiting to go out.  The cooks were killing themselves off trying to keep up with the rush.  And food was coming out of the kitchen --but not fast enough for starving drunks.  Anyways several gentlemen from a table of mine decided they had waited more than enough---drunkin' waiting time is different than sober waiting time, by far.  And came up to the cook line and started to harass our lead chief---who handled things much better than most people would or maybe should.   The last time they came up -- they canceled there food orders-- $60.00 worth of food and than went into a rant about how some day our tribe would get everything figured out and would be able to actually get food out of there kitchen to hungry customers.  This was extra entertaining because the chief and I are beyond white boys as well as are most of the cooks.  If anything we are from the not so famous Chip-A-Hoy tribe.   The casino does own all of the food outlets and such, but serving food is not really a tribe thing.   Most casino food outlets actually loose money because the eaters are  not gambling. 
     These customers were trying to get a rise out of someone.  And trying to offend.  I have let a few things slip--while working at a casino in Washington that co-workers did not exactly like--but really was not trying to offend anyone.  There I always called myself the token whit boy--this was why I supposedly made the big tips.  But I think it was more because I kept my knee pads extra polished.  One day I was talking about being new---and very low on the totem pole in the scheme of things.   That did not go over to well.  

 

 

I really miss Wood coffee   from the Bellingham, WA area  anyone wish to send me some??

I will be jumping in our pool at least once today before the monsoon rains hit.

I do have one complaint about our new pool---the sales people at Wally World never once told us we would have to clean the Dam thing!

 

 

 

 

 

    Directly above is our new bed headboard.  I share this to brag and to show what amazing things it is possible to obtain for free.  Mostly because people have to Dam much stuff.   We also got an amazing grand father clock a few months ago for free.   But in warning--it many times is not worth the hidden costs of being free---because people are people and often greedy.   But these particular items are amazing and well worth every penny we spend--and more. 
 

    Hello all! And welcome to 2013---I still can not believe it is another year, and am having trouble putting 13 on all of my checks. Luckily a 2 is very easily turned into an 3 for sure. I have been reading many of my past blog posts, and laughing a lot. My older posts were funnier, and I hope to return to that. This page has takin' a back seat to my newest blog series lately. Yes please!

   It is a wonderful sight, but so is this one.  So I want to start posting again.  With my random rambling.  And coffee love for sure!   One of the features I really enjoy from this blog sight is the many "deep" quotes I add to the blogs.  So here are a few new ones ----

 I love this movie!   And I got to watch my kids enjoy this movie the other day.  It was beyond awesome.

  I have many ideas and concepts to bring back to this page.  And hope to gain new readers and that many of the old ones come back.  This sight has a ton of views since it's launch.  So thank you!!   In the near future this includes a whole post about gun control, one about us surviving 2012.  *Psssst, we were all supposed to die!*  I would have posted that blog much soonerer, but I was waiting to see if we were going to die, before wasting all of that time and energy ;)  My "mini rants" is going to come back each week.  Please check out some of the old ones, if you have not enjoyed them in the past.  And of course lots and lots of jokes and pictures I have borrowed off this new place called the Internet.  

   Today I start with a flash back to December & Christmas time.   We had an amazing Christmas. Santa scored extra big at our house, by bringing all of the kiddos hand held tablets.  And I have to say it was the quietest Christmas with three kids....  Ever!  We heard them roaming out to the living room around 3 AM.  They know they can only open what is in there stockings in the morning.  And than they started playing on the systems, and we heard nothing until we slowly roamed out of bed.   Slowly because my wife and I have a great tradition on Christmas Eve --that involves drinking a lot and trying to put the kids toys together. ;)  
     It was a great Christmas even with three Furby's in the house --talking to each other in English and non English.   Yes Furby's are back.   Wahoo!    The new ones are kind of kool.  And you can sync them with your I-Pod and feed them and such with the device.  
    Anyways, you are straying from the point of this story.   Stop thinkin' about booze or the above peepin' Santa and focus.  Just before the big day, two of our children got selected to attend "Shop with a cop."  They have never been picked before, so the state must have felt we were overly poor this year.   Basically each school can choose students they feel might not get the best Christmas, and they meet up at Wally World to shop with a cop.   Tons of cops and workers donate there time, and it really is a great thing.  Especially great, considering Wal Mart participates and does something good!  Way early in the morning, a Saturday morning at that, we all gathered at the retail giant to sign in.  Than everyone went outside to watch the police show up.  And what a show!  
    30-40 cop cars blow past the happy kids, lights going, sirens blaring.  Than the star of the parade shows up on top of a big fire truck.   "Santa!" Everyone cheers!   Than it is picture time with the huge group.    This was my time to exist, because our oldest son was not picked to do the shopping.   Him and I ventured clear across the street for some coffee, hot chocolate, and donuts.  The essentials for sure.  The coffee shop workers were all talking about the parade of police cars that just shot into the Wal Mart parking lot.   They did not know about the event, and were sure a hostage type event was going on at the store.  We smiled as we sipped our warm beverages, not pausing to explain what was really going on.
      We soon decided it was time to go back to Wally World.  With all those cops around, most of the shoppers should actually act normal-ish, right?   As I was getting out of the car, I decided to lock my keys inside the car.  I noticed as I was slamming the car door shut, but it was to late.  Even longer story short---shop with a cop day is the best day ever to lock ones keys in your car!   Because there are cops every were!  It was soon decided that since we have electric locks on our vehicle, trying to "jimmy" the door open would cause more damage than benefits.  Plus no law abiding citizen can actually get into a locked car.  Any con or ex con, now tow truck driver, can get into your car before you can say "Dam you Wally World store!"
      Here is the great part.  And I thank the local police department from the bottom of my heart.  No really!  Two of the officers drove me clear across town to our apartment, to get my wife's set of keys.  Again I thank these officers and the police department for such a great act and day.  This would have been about an two hour journey on the city bus.  Plus it was great fun to jump out of the   police vehicle with two officers in the front seat, when we pulled up into our apartment complex.  Every one here is overly nosy.  So now they still have something to talk about.

Halloween 2012

I was very happy to have this Halloween off of work. I love my job, but spending the "holiday" with my three kiddos is much betterer for sure! We already knew better than to attend the Trunk or Treat event at the massive Christ Is King Church. This is a great event, but it is always way packed. Plus going from car to car in a parking lot, does not seem much like trick or treating to me. We also knew not to go to the event at Bellis Fair Mall. If you have been there, you know.

In the morning Max, our youngest, and I set off on some trails near our house in beautiful Fairhaven. To wear out our son and the dog. I managed to get some neat pictures. Although I wanted some fog filled pictures from inside the Bay View Cemetery. What could be more Halloween-isk? Is that even a word? But on this day, it wasn't an option.

Than it was time to dress up and head to Bellingham's great down town.

I used bits and pieces of costumes, and we are still not sure what I was this year.

MANY of the local business gave out lots of candy! The instant winners in my book were the downtown barber shop--who gave out wrist text devices to all of the kids. And Rocket Donuts who gave out free donuts---even for the adults!

One only had to look for the orange and black balloons, to receive lots of sugar!

We than roamed the very busy and hilly streets of Fairhaven's down town. About the time it started to get dark, and the stores were running out of candy, Washington weather returned and the rain started to dump on everyone.

We went to Hillcrest Chapel to dry off.

They had lots of events for kids and lots of coffee and goodies for the adults.

Most years my wife and I lock ourselves in the bedroom and search the candy for dangerous and or poisons. Mainly stashing some of the best stuff for ourselves. We should get some benefit for walking all over town with the kids. But this year, we figured all of the candy was beyond safe.

Except for lots of rain towards the end, it was a very nice Halloween. I recall many freezing, snow filled Halloweens while growing up in Wyoming.

With many daze of no school coming up for any of us with kids----I take a minute to mention all of the craft kits that Wal- Mart has to offer. Many are very reasonable--and most are pretty cool. The above --- our boys and I did. And it makes two catapults. Complete with ammo and targets. And lots of stickers to decorate. But they have lots of other choices also.

We also got several gingerbread house kits. Something we do every year. I will think about listing some of our other traditions, as it actually gets closer to Christmas.
